Who is Mountain Runner?

Mountain Runner Events was formed out of the passion for an active and healthy lifestyle and the motto of “GET OUTSIDE!” Tatum Prins and Graham Bird are successful multi-sport racers and have combined over 40 years of racing experience to stage quality events. They hope to appeal to like minded people, while encouraging new adventure seekers to the great outdoors.

Merrell Night Run Series. Powered by Black Diamond and hosted at Simon’s Restaurant.
2^nd, 9^th, 16^th April– Cape Town, Western Cape

Bring a friend or the whole family, your headlamp and join us for some night time fun through the vineyards. Afterwards join us at the bar for some delicious grub, a beer and some awesome lucky draw prizes. Night time running is an experience you should all try at least once!

Merrell Wacky Wine Trail Runs. Hosted at Arabella Wine Estate over the Wacky Wine Weekend

7^th to 9^th June – Robertson Wine Valley, Western Cape

Mountain Runner will be hosting three trail running events at Arabella Wine Estate to keep you active while you enjoy the festivities of the Wacky Wine Weekend. A Twilight run through the vineyards on the Friday evening followed by a true trail run through the mountains surrounding the estate on the Saturday morning. There will also be a Vineyard run on the Saturday morning, where you can get to stop off and drink some wine at the "Water tables". Walkers welcome. Sunday will see a rally type event through the vineyards.  So come and join for a full weekend of fun/party/winetasting/camping at the Wacky Wine Weekend.

Merrell Outeniqua Traverse

3^rd August – George, Western Cape

Ridglines, fynbos, flowing trails and magnificent views of the Outeniqua Mountains are what describes this race. It’s raw, real and brings out the best in trail runners of all abilities. There will be plenty of refreshments and food on sale and a jumping castle for the kids. Bring a picnic basket and enjoy the botanical gardens. If the 38km sounds too long, you can always try the 25km or the 10km.

Merrell Spring Run

11th August – Johannesburg, Gauteng

 “A hidden Eden where waters cascade and eagles soar.”  A 6km and 12km trail run. Something for the whole family for a lovely Sunday morning. The routes will wind through the magnificent Botanical gardens and climb onto the ridge of the adjoining mountains offering spectacular views

Gravity Adventure Festival presented by Merrell

16th to 18th August – Kleinmond, Western Cape

An outdoor weekend filled with adventure activities for everyone. You name the event and you can be rest assured it is happening this weekend. Get into the spirit of things and come enjoy the film festival on Friday night and the live band & DJ’s on Saturday night. There are plenty of lucky draw prizes, events and will be a weekend you will never forget! There will be food and a fully stocked bar available for the entire weekend as well as the option to camp right there!

Merrell Hobbit Trail Runs

11^th to 12^th October – Hogsback, Eastern Cape

The Hobbit 100km run along the iconic Amatola Hiking Trail over two days is trail running in its purest and rawest form taking in magnificent indigenous forests, spectaluar mountain peaks and countless waterfalls. A true test for any trail runner and one of the must-do events for any trail runner. If the 100km seems too long, do not despair, this is an entire weekend of trail running extravaganza! There will be 38km, 16km and 5km events on Saturday 12th October from the mystical town of Hogsback, followed by drinks and war stories at the pub in the evening.
