| The Matumi trail starts at the confluence of the Mac Mac, Sabie and the Sabaan rivers, opposite Induna Adventures. It then follows the Mac Mac upstream, one of the larger unspoilt rivers of the escarpment. You run inside beautiful riverine forest along the pools, rapids and falls of the Mac Mac. About a kilometre upstream from the picnic spot the valley opens up, the river becomes narrower and the plantations more obvious. The Matumi trail is administered by Induna Adventures and the Hazyview conservancy. For natural beauty and biodiversity this trail on the Mac Mac river is a treasure on the escarpment. Returning back down the opposite bank it winds back towards the start. It then heads off on forestry roads past a spectacular view of the Sabie River valley Runners in the long and XL run must carry at least 1.5lt water and a cell phone with race control's number preloaded. There will be ONE aid station with water and nutrition on the route. Please visit the website for more details. |
