The inaugural winter trail adventure is situated on a private nature reserve, Erfdeel. Just 35km outside of Ceres, it covers 1000 ha of mountain and reaches the Matroosberg Peak, which at the altitude of 2249m, is the highest in the Boland.
Prizes will be awarded to category winners and the first male and female to reach the peak will be crowned King and Queen of the Peak. There will also be some amazing spot prizes up for grabs.
Entry fee includes: entry into Matroosberg, medals to all finishers, prizes to category winners and spot prizes and a finishers meal. A goody bag to all pre-entries only.
Spectators enjoy a reduced R20 entry to Matroosberg, to be paid directly, on the day of the event.
The 30km race is run along a challenging 4×4 route, to the Matroosberg Peak. After the peak, theres a 7km loop to the top and a descent down a fast single-track. This is not an easy run by any stretch of the imagination; expect steep inclines and descents, and cold temperatures, with a high possibility of snow. The 14km is run on the flat surface around the base of the mountain and consists mostly of open jeep track, with some single track. Although fairly easy, the elements add excitement to this run.
