Route Description

The event starts and finishes at Voortrekker monument. New hiking routes have been laid out by single track guru David who developed Groenkloof, and these will be the routes you'll be traveling on. Spectacular single track is around every hook and bend. As always trail runners on the short route can expect a moderate to easy route, while the long distance will be challenging with lots of climbing and rocky underfoot conditions. The event will prove to be a true test of stamina, strength and fitness. Water and refreshment stations will be available on the route.

Pre-entries close on the 1st of Feb 2013 at 17:00.

Registration on race day from 05:30 at the race venue.

Line entries on the day will have to contribute an extra R20-00 to our charity fund.

Safety

· There will be marshals at strategic places on the course for your safety.

· There will be a race sweeper at each race.

· Registration will take place before the race where you must collect your race number and sign the indemnity.

· There will not be a cut off time but prize giving will start at 09:00.

· The race will be timed.

· The route will be clearly marked. It is the responsibility of the trail runner to follow the course markers.

Medals and Results

Medals to pre entered participants only, on both distances. Results will be made available on www.verticalhorison.co.za after the event.

The race will be timed by LIVE TIME electronic timing, a permanent race number will be on sale or a temporary number will also be available for hire. No chip, no time. The timing chip can be used at all LIVE TIME events. The permanent timing chip will help athletes miss the que as no registration will be required after the chip has been bought.

Prizes

There will be a lucky draw at 09:00. Cash prizes to the value of R2000 to first three males and females on the long route only, lots of lucky draw prizes from our sponsors.
