This morning Ryan won the 22km Old Fishermans Trail Challenge from HoutBay to Fish Hoek beach over the mountains. Ryan not only won in a time of 1hr39min42seconds, but also beat the previous records set by Nicolas Rupanga (1hr44min20seconds) in 2009. "Being only 22km, I have always considered the Fishermans Trail Challenge to be too short for me, but it must be one of the most beautiful trail races in the country. So this year I decided to give it a bash! I felt really comfortable through out the race and loved every second of the technical route which suited my style of running. I was super happy to get the win today and it will be a great confidence booster for me before I head to the Zugspitz Ultra 101km in Germany (2 weeks time) and the Leadville 100miler in the States (August). Thanks to everyone for your support and well done to all the other runners out there today - you guys rocked!"
Pics of the event will be up under the gallery tab on Wednesday.
